Excellent Year!

On the road of the castles of the Medoc towards Pauillac, at the exit of the village of Arcins, on the left right after the famous inn of the Gold Lion, the vineyard of Drive out-Spleen is. In the south east of the gravelly croup of Large Poujeaux, it profits from a remarkably drained basement and is superbly exposed to the hot rays of the sun of summer.
The ground is composed to 80% of low registers garonnaises on calcareous substrate with asteries and 20% of argilo-limestone. Before the establishment of the vine, only an extremely rustic cereal as rye could push there.
The climate is also a component of the soil. In Medoc, sprinkled spring constitutes a reserve stored in the hidden tertiary base. One hot season in summer makes suffer the vine, obliged to very deeply seek the necessary water little.
This cruel time and this thin ground are exactly that which the type of vines médocains need to be expressed perfectly: cabernet-sauvignon with 73% on the field, merlot with 20% and small verdot with 7%.
The remarkable Drive out-Spleen produces high level wines since about thirty year. They are as good as a Third Great wine.

By evoke Lord Byron and the euphoriant virtues of the Drive out-Spleen one ends up forgetting the wine. It would be damage because its qualities and its regularity are large.
