Exceptional Year, Exceptional Wine |
Great year, which succeeds two years (88 and 89) quite as prestigious. The year knew a beautiful and hot time, producing high degrees and relatively low acidities. The wines are concentrated, with tastes of ripe fruit and flexible tannins.
The color testifies to a normal evolution.
The very intense and rich nose is very composed of fruit notes walls which point out certain Sauternes old men: dry apricots, quince paste, crystallized orange barks.
In mouth very flexible tannins, take part in the heady character of the wine.
The long, generous and exotic final, marvelously symbolizes the solar character of this year.
Gault Millau.

Wrap garnet-red sinks, liquorice. Beautiful density, elegant, small hollow, pretty bottom suave, enough round.
Jacques Dupont, the Point.

Harmonious wine: flavors of fuits black tasty precis and, texture marvelously consistent, tannin extracted with a diabolic precision, big length.
Jacques Perrin, Vinfera.

The dress is constant. Beautiful aromatic complexity: notes of spices, very light noble vegetable note. Entered in full mouth (the sample is on the wood catch). Development around a flexible, perfectly adjusted screen. Beautiful aromatic plenitude on noble spice notes and ripe fruits. Rigorous construction: it is spread with a great elegance on a remarkable tannicity of smoothness. “2007 are the smallest production since 1991.
For us, in Palmer, there is no qualitative difference in this year between merlot and cabernet sauvignon, note Thomas Duroux. One succeeded in making very pure merlots, very elegant, with flesh. At the wine level, among the encountered problems this year, we had a very spread out flowering, which lasted three weeks. We employed 60 people during 5 weeks in summer to rectify that.”
Bernard Burtschy, Sunday newspaper. Tasting in April 2008
Play the sweetness, elegance and the roundness, seducer in devil.
Louis Havaux, Vino Magazine.
Tasting in April 2008 6000 cases.
Smallest harvest since 1971. Less dense than the other years, but beautiful structure, fruity, spiced, good tannins. Very beautiful wine!
Jean-Marc Quarin, Notebooks of Tasting.

Color sinks. The nose is fairly aromatic, fine, fruity, of very ripe type. Beautiful entry in mouth, finely pulpy. The wine develops very fruity, melting, aromatic, with a a little sharp character and a final with the well coated tannicity. Beautiful tasty length on a ripe and fine tannin grain. They is very good without being powerful. Beautiful neat work.
Olivier Poels, the Review of the Wines of France. Tasting in March 2008
In one year here more favorable to the cabernet-sauvignon than with the merlots, the Palmer castle has remarkably drawn its pin from the play. The wine which comprises 49% of merlot is resulting from one of the most drastic selections which the field knew. The output does not exceed the 34 hl/h: “We carried out important grape harvest in green and with the elimination of pink bays in August”, specifies the director of the castle Thomas Duroux. It results from it a wine with the generous attack and the profile very different from the Margaux Castle. The entry in mouth is cordial and full. The medium is full, of a good density and is tightened finally. It deploys beautiful tannins finally.
